At The Grange School, we utilise small class sizes in order to focus on building trusting relationships and providing each pupil with the individualised support they require.
By ensuring that each class has no more than 5 pupils and has the support of a teacher and teaching assistant, our pupils can overcome their barriers to learning and make accelerated progress.
Pupils are grouped based on a combination of their academic potential and their social and emotional needs, rather than their specific year group. This provides opportunities for pupils cultivate positive relationships with their peers and to develop the skills required to become confident and independent learners.
The school day begins and ends with tutor time in order that pupils have a consistent opportunity to prepare for the day and reflect on its successes.
Careers education plays a vital role in the development of our pupils. We place great importance on the value of each pupil’s individual aspirations and strive to ensure that we can support each pupil to reach their goals.
All pupils will have access to a range of activities and learning opportunities throughout their curriculum offer to support their understanding of careers and identifying further aspirations. Each of our pupils from year 9 and above will have a personalised careers programme which is based around their own goals, strengths, and aspirations.
Where possible, all pupils will be provided with encounters and opportunities tailored to their personalised goals. This will include experiences in workplaces, information sessions with employers, insights into higher education institutions and personal careers and development guidance.
